AXIS Q7406 Overview

The AXIS Q7406 (0289-001) video encoder blade provides 6 channels of video from analog cameras. The cameras compatible with the device include over 25 models from the leading manufacturers. Cameras by Sony, Philips, American Dynamics, Bosch and many more are supported by the device. The AXIS Q7406 video encoder blade provides excellent quality video while saving on network bandwidth. It can provide multiple streams from each of its 6 channels. It can also be used with the AXIS Q7900 Rack to provide a total of 84 channels of video, all from the space of a 19-inch, 4-U rack. The AXIS Q7406 video encoder blade uses the H.264 and Motion JPEG codecs. Motion JPEG provides flexibility on the device. The H.264 codec allows for significant video compression while still offering a very crisp image to the viewer. Each of the multiple streams broadcast from the 6-channels on the AXIS Q7406 video encoder blade can be configured for different frame rates and resolutions. They can also all simultaneously stream at their maximum resolution, 720x480 NTSC or 720x576 in PAL. This device also supports very advanced network and area security technologies. The AXIS Q7406 video encoder blade has motion detection that can be used to provide enhanced security. The device also has the ability to detect attempts to tamper with or sabotage the device, and to trigger an alarm in such an event. The AXIS Q7406 video encoder blade is provided with external I/O ports that can be used to control devices in the event of an alarm.
